Allercombe Farm, Rattery is roughly half-way between Exeter and Plymouth, 10 miles from the sea and 5 miles from Dartmoor. You are spoilt for choice! Here are some websites to give you a taste of what this area has to offer.  (The links open in new tabs or windows).

30 minutes or less by car

South Dartmoor - excellent for easy, medium and challenging walks.

Totnes - Busy market town with restaurants, cinema and shops (inc. Morrisons) Kayak and Paddleboard hire available from Kayakhub at Totnes Steamer Quay. 

River Dart trips - Ferry from Totnes to Dartmouth, with the option to return by steam train and open-top bus. .

South Devon Railway runs between Buckfastleigh and Totnes. Your nearest station: Staverton  Attractions at Buckfastleigh include The Butterfly Farm and Buckfast Abbey.

Dartington - Hall, gardens, cinema and bar.

Paignton - A traditional seaside town,  home to a popular zoo, and loads of water-flume fun at Splashdown Quaywest, Goodrington Sands.

Pennywell Farm - A full day of hands on animals activities

South Brent - Nearby village for shopping (inc Co-op)

Woodlands - Family Theme Park located on the A3122 road to Dartmouth. For energetic children and adults. With amazing water rides, a zoo farm and plenty of indoor play areas, this country park is ideal for all weathers.

South Devon includes the South Hams - beaches perfect for swimming, surfing, kayaking and more, and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - beautiful scenery, rivers and walks

Torquay - Part of the English Riviera.

Brixham - attractive harbourside town with a busy fishing port.

Plymouth - The Ocean City.

Exeter - Devon's Roman City.

Dartmoor - A unique experience for walkers, cyclists and motorists.

The National Trust has plenty of gardens, beaches, houses and more within easy reach of Rattery.

Too wet for the above? No worries, there's also plenty to do in Devon on a rainy day.
